YOUNG CONSUMERS

responsible production is driven by informed consumers

We all have a part to play in making sure the products we use aren’t causing harm somewhere in the production process.

In Bonded Labor, Tackling the System of Slavery in South Asia, Harvard Professor Siddharth Kara lays out 10 ways that each of us can end the use of extractive labor practices around the world. 3 of the tactics he touches on are:

  1. Learn more about the issue

  2. Contact corporations to learn about their labor practices

  3. Use the power of social media to raise awareness

Through the Full Circle Project, we seek to engage major corporations in dialog with college students and young people

around the country who want to make sure that the products we use bring joy not only to us—but to those who make them.

College students create the rubric: what do YOU think is most important in creating a responsible brand? What labor practices will you not stand for? Where is the line between what you’d wear and what you wouldn’t, because of how it was made and you made it?

Issue Spotlight

One of our goals at {tic} is to help young citizens think about the people behind the brands and products they buy.

Our first spotlight issue is "the ugly truth of fashion.” How can we make sure business leaders take workers and their rights & conditions of work seriously? How can we be certain that we are not satisfied by token initiatives or greenwashing? Can clothing brands find ways to be more ethical?
